At the Last Support Jesus washed the feet of his disciples to model the behavior he wants us to emulate. To serve others, and not to be served. We are each called by Jesus to tend to others and to provide the basic necessities to those in need: food, clothing, shelter, comfort, and love. Through our Service Requirement portion of the Confirmation preparation program, candidates are required to seek out opportunities to provide service to others through Service to Parish and Service to Community options.
Each year of the Confirmation program candidates are required to complete: •At least two (2) Service to Parish and two (2) Service to Community opportunities. •If a candidate completes more than the minimum opportunities for a year, the additional opportunities do not count for the other year. These can be fulfilled through use of our service opportunity listingspublished in the weekly bulletinsent to families via email as they arise throughout the yearby reviewing the Ministries tab on our website, walpolecatholic.net. We continue to add to this list as new opportunities become available by reaching out to their home, school, or other local communities to volunteer at outside organizations.Candidates will complete a short summary of the services opportunities and any lesson they learned from it.
All service completed at an outside organization requires submission of a letter of verification from the project organizer or volunteer coordinator at the organization in order for youth to receive credit. Verification letters and candidate summaries can be: •emailed to [email protected] •dropped off at the Blessed Sacrament Parish office, attention of the Confirmation Coordinator •brought to an in-person session •mailed to Confirmation Coordinator, c/o Blessed Sacrament Parish, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole, MA 02081
